THE PROS AND CONS OF FULL CIRCLE FARM -- I previously wrote about Ground Squirrel and/or Vole habitat being under seige down at the Full Circle Farm (FC) at Peterson field (with permission from the SCUSD and/or the supposed 'Republican-free zone' down at the Sunnyvale City Council), and while these animals have been severely disrupted, they are still thriving nonetheless despite the continued and/or increased presence of humans, the Red Tailed hawk and the addition of Gopher snakes by farm personnel > note: scientists say ancient Ground Squirrels survived the Yucatan peninsula asteroid impact roughly 65 million years ago -- As you can see in the photo below, the Red Tailed hawk (perched upon what appears to be a stack of beehives) seems to be getting used to the presence of humans; and all other avian species which live above ground are thriving as well...
INCREASED ENIRONMENTAL PROTECTION = DEEPENED DEMOCRACY? -- President Obama recently spoke about illegal building settlements in the middle east, and how these settlements tend to hinder peace in the region. The fact is; it really doesn't matter whether you are in the U.S. or in the middle east; illegal building settlements are illegal building settlements, and what we have here is the rough equivalent of an illegal building settlement which hinders the freedoms of both humans and wildlife -- And while the FC farm is a better suitor than most potential field users; what the SCUSD [and/or the Sunnyvale council and/or FC Farm] have essentially done here is create an illegal building settlement through the subversion of environmental law -- Much like a microcosm of ancient Palestine; both the Peterson and Patrick Henry fields are in fact PUBLIC PROPERTY where all people once roamed freely; but now they are only occupied by a chosen few; 1) soccer teams who rent the Patrick Henry field; and/or 2) the FC Farm which leases part of the Peterson field; and/or 3) those who have enough money to pay for expensive organic FC vegetables, and/or 4) those who do not question the FC farm's alleged aminal cruelty; and this is wrong...
And even though the FC farm came into this neighborhood on the condition they would allow locals to volunteer; while most local residents have absolutely no interest whatsoever in doing so, one volunteer (me) that has opted to help out by cleaning up litter that the FC farm has so far refused to remove, has not only been been kept out, but [illegally] threatened with arrest for entering the property!? -- The fact is; school districts receive federal dollars; which means they cannot discriminate against anyone (including and especially me; an alumni of Peterson high school and protected new media journalist); and have to adhere to federal environmental law -- Bill Clinton's recent support of imprisoned journalists in North Korea is largely a smoke-screen for journalists here in America who are now essentially under siege by the U.S. government...
> A FRIENDLY REMINDER: THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION / ratified: 15 dec 1791 -- Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances...
The bottom line: the Patrick Henry field must eventually be re-opened for public usage with the new fence COMPLETELY REMOVED; and whether the farm remains there or not; the fence should remain in place to protect the wildlife within its' boundaries; and to keep it out of the hands of questionable interests; in the future, the FC farm section of Peterson field must eventually be shored up as important wildlife territory with public access (trails etc), along with the adjoining wildlife corridor section which connects to the Peterson nature area...
WILDLIFE CORRIDOR @ THE PETERSON FIELD -- this section of the Peterson field joins the FC farm section A; with Ground Squirrel habitat section B; and the Peterson nature area, which was written up in LIFE MAGAZINE back during the environmentally-friendly 1970s -- Ground Squirrel burrows lie beneath each patch of brown grass in section B -- see also: LORD OF THE BURROWS
