DEAR NEIGHBORS - the Sunnyvale Parks And Recreation Department wants to sell the Raynor Activity Center for housing development, and wants to use the proceeds for unknown other purposes in other parts of the City. They argue that because they haven't been charging market rental rates for 29 years, it is too costly for them to renovate these buildings now. They also argue that Birdland East/Raynor Park is ranked sixth out of nine neighborhoods in "all open space average per thousand population." But their statistics exclude the 2,500 Santa Clara residents (Laurelwood neighborhood) living in our neighborhood and using Raynor Park on a daily basis. Including these existing residents puts our Birdland East/Raynor Park/Laurelwood neighborhood at dead last in "all open space per thousand population." And this doesn't even include the 490 families planned for Santa Clara Square, or any other future developments the City of Sunnyvale decides to approve along the south side of El Camino Real in the future...
